Building Your Home or Cottage
The next step in creating your dream home or cottage is deciding on:
- an architect to design your building
- or selecting a design from pre-designed plans
- a contractor(s) to do the site work (eg driveway, excavation, landscaping), construction work (eg building, septic system, well)
Be sure to apply for applicable municiapl and provincial permits (eg building and occupancy permits). Local contractors will be able to advise you on these requirements.

Lots on Golden Horizon are un-serviced lots. You will need a septic system installed on your new lot. Lots have been approved for C-2 septic system. Budget between $ 12,000 to $ 15,000 Canadian for a typical C-2 septic system in this area.
Private Wells
Residences in Port Mouton all rely on their own private well. Budget between $3,000 and $6,000 for a drilled well.
